Who is Tommyinnit?

Tommy (AKA: MrBoldMan) is a very popular Youtuber and Twitch Streamer in the gaming community. He has been playing Minecraft since it was released in 2009, when he was 9 years old.

Start of career

He started out by using a simple webcam to record his videos, but he quickly bought himself a gaming camera which allowed him to do many more things, such as record commentary while playing, make skits and use it for recording footage in the Minecraft server he built with his 3 brothers who are also very successful Youtubers themselves.

Tommy has proven that you don’t need an expensive setup or any special equipment to be successful on YouTube; all you really need is something that can capture decent footage (which even smartphones nowadays can provide), good software editing tools and enough creativity to come up with entertaining videos.

Success on Youtube

Over the period of 8 years, Tommy became hugely successful on YouTube and Twitch, having released hundreds of videos and streams every year with thousands of subscribers and followers respectively. However, Minecraft’s success faded away in 2017 due to lack of updates from Mojang (the company who made Minecraft), with the most popular servers closing down as well; this caused Tommy’s viewership numbers to drop significantly for almost half a year before returning back up to his normal numbers that were once seen.

At around that time, Tommy started to play many other games on his channel, such as

  • H1Z1: King of the Kill
  • Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds
  • Realm Royale
  • Block N Load

In addition to that, he also usually plays a selection of mini-games with his audience in Minecraft, which have been very successful so far. You can check out one of them on his channel here. Tommy often uses these mini-games and others as segments on his YouTube videos and streams (Builds and Challenges), making it very entertaining for viewers. For example; His Factions series has over 1M views on YouTube alone.

How many subscribers does Tommyinnit have?

On his main channel, TommyInnit has 3,810,013 subscribers.

How many views did Tommyinnit’s latest video get?

On Wednesday 2017-12-27, the day this article was written, Tommyinnit published a video entitled “17 ways to avoid losing your mined blocks when you die in Minecraft 1.13” which got 221,964 views during the first 24 hours it was live.

Assuming that each view came from a different person (which is reasonable), we can estimate that TommyInnit got roughly $3 in revenue for this video since YouTube charges $0.003 per view and he didn’t have any per-roll ads on the video This number may seem low at first, but we have to keep in mind that this is only one video and it’s not representative of how much he makes overall – since he publishes multiple videos every day.

How much did Youtube charge for advertising?

When checked on Wednesday 2017-12-27, the average cost per 1,000 views (CPM) was $2.32. We can then estimate that TommyInnit made roughly $0.66 from YouTube for his latest video. As you can see, the CPM varies a lot depending on who your audience is and how well you monetize your channel, so anything below $2 means that ads don’t work very well for you. I would also like to mention here that this number is expected to increase in 2018 since YouTube recently changed their monetization policy.

How much money does Tommyinnit make?

To conclude things here: This is not meant to be an exact calculation of the monthly revenue TommyInnit made from his main channel during 2017 (simply because I couldn’t find all relevant information) but it should give us a good idea of what he makes on average per month for 1 million views.

If he assume 2 videos were published every day during this year (which is admittedly unrealistic), then that would put his estimated monthly earnings at around $33,000. And if you’re wondering about the other 9% of income that doesn’t come from advertising well, that’s just enough for me to justify writing a ridiculously long article on how much money Tommyinnit makes.

Content about games

Tommy doesn’t just upload content about games either; He also posts vlogs on YouTube every few months, which are basically just videos about what he has been up to throughout the month, including which games he has played and streamed. You can check out his most recent vlog here.

Weekly challenges

Tommy also started uploading weekly challenges on YouTube every Sunday, which are unique mini-games that you can play with your friends. Challenges have become very popular among both new and veteran Minecraft players alike.

Tommy has already uploaded over 30 different challenges for everyone to enjoy, with each challenge having a completely different theme or concept. Anything from Adventure Maps to Parkour Maps are fair game. A few examples of these challenges can be seen below where Tommy tries to beat his own creation in “Block N Load” and sets the bar pretty high for himself in Realm Royale.

Streaming

When it comes to streaming, Tommy’s channel is one of the few channels on Twitch that streams almost every day. You can find his schedule for when he will be live here, which you should keep an eye out for, because if you tune in while he’s live then there is a chance that you might receive a shout-out during the stream.

Move to Mixer

And those numbers are set to grow even further now that he has been added as a full-time streamer on Mixer, Microsoft’s newest streaming service (formerly known as Beam) which is very popular with younger audiences. It was announced in August 2017 that Mixer would be available natively within the game Fortnite, allowing players to live stream or watch others play Fortnite at will. You can imagine then how effective this must have been for Mixer, since it caused their viewer count to go up massively.

Tommyinnit’s move there even more beneficial. This is good news for us too though, because it means we’ll be seeing plenty more of him in the near future.Tommy’s last day on Twitch was July 2nd, 2018 and he will be streaming exclusively on Mixer from now on. His Minecraft-related content is no longer available on his YouTube channel or any other streaming platform.
